All purpose mechanical seals

Goulds Pumps, a division of ITT Industries, has introduced Seal Plus, a single and double cartridge, all-purpose mechanical seal.

The seal features an O-ring pusher design that is said to provide versatility, reliability and lower cost. The single seal (model SP1) has a carbon or silicon carbide rotating face with a silicon carbide stationary face and 316 stainless steel metal parts. A standard carbon restricting bushing is supplied with a cast 316 stainless steel flush, vent and drain glands.

The SP2 double seal option also uses a carbon or silicon carbide inboard rotating face and 316 stainless steel metal parts to ensure optimum chemical compatibility. It has a silicon carbide stationary face with a carbon versus silicon carbide outboard face combination and a cast 316 stainless steel gland with an inlet and outlet port.

The Seal Plus is a fully balanced design that allows for higher working pressures of up to 300psi and maximum operating temperatures to 205°C.
