Thermo targets polymers
21 Sep 2006
Analytical instruments company Thermo Electron Corp. has developed a flexible twin-screw compounder that is designed to provide small-scale continuous processing for research, development and production applications in the polymer industry.
Among the features of the new Prism TSE 24 MC compounder is the clam-shell design of the 24mm opening barrel, which gives immediate access to the screws for easy cleaning and quick configuration changes. The unit's replaceable barrel liners can be manufactured from special materials to handle aggressive applications, while its high, free-volume geometry improves feeding of low-density ingredients.
The compounder employs PLC control with wireless data logging and recipe storage ensuring reliable and repeatable results. A touch screen enables both simple operation and full data acquisition.
