Thermo Fisher device monitor output of a specially developed expanded clay aggregate
Rugby, UK – Concrete block manufacturer Plasmor Ltd has installed Thermo Fisher belt scales to monitor output of a specially developed expanded clay aggregate from a new rotary kiln production facility. The patented Ramsey IDEA devices are designed for precise conveyor weighing of bulk materials to a value of ± 1%.
Plasmor has installed two of the belt scales in each of its two kiln areas. The systems are bolted on to conveyors to monitor production of the clay aggregate, which is expanded in the kilns at high temperatures -- a process specially developed by Plasmor to eliminate the need to import from overseas.
Plasmor has also installed two Ramsey IDEA belt scales at its AGLITE production facility. AGLITE is a range of low density, lightweight load bearing blocks for housebuilding, industrial, commercial and RMI projects. The belt scale systems ensure the correct mix of Plasmor’s own man-made expanded clay material and other high quality aggregates.
“The vital information provided by Thermo Scientific Ramsey IDEA belt scales contributes to the efficient management and operation of our business as well as helping us to maintain quality standards,” said Ron Parker, clay plant manager, Plasmor in a Thermo Scientific press release.
