Poll points to ‘flexible’ manufacturing workers
22 Apr 2009
London - Workers in the manufacturing sectors are the most flexible in the UK, according to a survey.
The independent campaign Keep Britain Working surveyed 2,500 people from various sectors and found that 99% of workers in manufacturing roles would accept changes in their working conditions to help colleagues keep their jobs.
The poll also found that 41% of the manufacturing workers surveyed would accept a cut in pay and more than three in four - 63% - would accept a reduction in hours. However, in common with other sectors, if bosses asked for sacrifices without making any themselves, 2% of the manufacturing workers surveyed said they would strike.
The poll is published in advance of this week's UK Budget statement and can be found at www.keepbritainworking.com.
