Fieldbus Foundation
The Fieldbus Foundation UK marketing committee (FFUKMC) has announced a series of training events to be held across the UK. The half-day events are specifically targeted to employees within the supplier community and offer a basic overview of FOUNDATION fieldbus technology, its implementation, applications and overall plant integration. The training is particularly relevant for all sales and engineering staff who may liaise with users or potential users of FOUNDATION technology and the company’s fieldbus systems, devices or interfaces. The supplier community training events will be held at the following venues:

Food and drink manufacturing skills
Food and drink manufacturing companies are being invited to a conference this autumn which will look at tackling shortfalls in engineering, maintenance and equipment training within the industry. Co-hosted by MCP Consulting and Training, Reaseheath College, The National Skills Academy for Food and Drink Manufacturing and CenFRA, the event takes place 18 Nov at Reaseheath’s Nantwich campus. Titled Improving performance in engineering and maintenance through training the event will look at formulating a common framework covering skills delivery for maintenance and equipment operating, as well as building profiles for roles such as technicians, team leaders and maintenance managers. Maintenance Explained
A new, two-day training course entitled ‘Maintenance Explained’ by MCP will teach managers, engineers, production supervisors and planners, who may be new to maintenance, how the fundamentals of good maintenance management in a manufacturing or service environment, can lead to cost savings, efficiency improvement and most importantly reliable equipment. The course is a foundation to prepare those who are new to maintenance for more specialist maintenance subject areas such as Maintenance Best Practice - a more detailed 5 day course; Work Planning and Control; Spares Parts Management; RCM/FMECA; Principles of LEAN Maintenance and PAS 55 – an introduction. Carbon Emissions Reduction
Butterworths is staging its inauguaral Carbon Emissions Reduction conference, 28 Jan, central London. The CRC-Energy Efficiency Scheme is mandatory and will come into effect in April 2010. It aims to reduce carbon emissions in large non-energy intensive organisations by 1.2 million tonnes of carbon per year over the next 10 years. Hotels, office-based corporations, supermarkets, government departments and local authorities will all be included in the scheme. Corporate Manslaughter
Corporate Manslaughter is now well and truly on Health & Safety professionals' agendas with the first ever case under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act expected to begin in February next year.
