Envirowise launches Rethink Waste initiative
20 Oct 2009
Rethink Waste is intended to help manufacturers of all sizes by providing a simple structured approach for them to understand how much waste they produce and how much this costs. It also aims to help companies to identify simple ways to start reducing waste, and to measure the waste and potential cost savings. Manufacturers must register for the scheme before 31 Dec.
Head of environment at EEF, Gareth Stace, said: "As outlined in EEF's recent Manufacturing Our Future report, climate change is a long-term challenge that manufacturers will need to face if they are to survive and thrive. We welcome additional support to help the sector get the best from its resources. Free initiatives such as Rethink Waste offer a practical and accessible route to resource efficiency and we will be encouraging our members to take part."
Rethink Waste will be delivered over three months in three advice-packed online modules: How to collect data on waste; Develop an action plan; and Implementing the action plan and measuring savings. The modules will provide the information and tools needed to make effective waste and cost savings, said Envirowise.
Companies signing up receive access to dedicated modules which will include step-by-step guidance exclusive audiocasts and web conferences for Rethink Waste members. There is also a Q&A session with a resource efficiency specialist and access to a virtual factory tour. Other benefits include a certificate in recognition of a company's achievements and free technical support through an Advice Line on 0800 585794.
