The GT/GP PowerTrap series of mechanical pumps and pump traps from TLV are designed to produce effective condensate processing in order to improve plant productivity and product quality, while reducing energy consumption and water treatment.
The PowerTrap series works by preventing heat exchanger ‘stall’, having effective condensate recovery, not requiring electricity, and permitting recovery of hot condensate up to 220°C without cavitation.
Heat exchange ‘stall’ prevention improves product quality, says TLV, eliminating the effects of ‘water hammer’ that can cause equipment damage and be a safety hazard.
It also helps stop corrosion caused by condensate accumulation. Effective condensate recovery can reduce boiler fuel cost, water treatment costs and effluent and disposal costs.
The absence of cavitation, as well as permitting the recovery of hot condensate, also eliminates the seal, bearing and impeller damage that can occur in standard centrifugal pumps. A low-filling head facilitates the use with equipment situated at low levels.
As a result of the PowerTrap series not using electricity, the instruments should be quick and easy to install, offering reliable mechanical operation without the need for complex level control, says the company. The products can also be used in areas that have no supply or require explosion-proof equipment.
Features of the GT PowerTrap series include built-in steam traps to improve performance and produce a compact easy-to-install design, while automatically switching between pump and trap operation in response to process conditions.
The GP/GT PowerTrap series has a ‘snap-action’ mechanism with heat-treated hardened stainless steel internals to maximise operational life. They also offer stainless steel check valves for durability.
